Currently a subletting artist in residence at Gotham Studios, Sharon Callow is a recent visual arts graduate from Edith Cowan University, and winner of the Louise Macfie Painting Prize, the university’s painting residency for 2018, and the NAVA Ignition Prize. Primarily a painter, her practice also utilises photography, digital media and textiles. This work, on show at Peek-a-Boo Gallery during August and September, is from her current project To sleep, perchance to dream. In this project Sharon seeks to create quiet, reflective spaces into which one could retreat. Begun as a response to insomnia, these works are intended to offer a respite from the informational overload and multiple responsibilities entailed in attempting to lead an ethically, socially, politically and environmentally aware existence.

Peek-a-Boo is Gotham's window-box gallery, viewable 24/7 from James Street Northbridge, directly opposite the Alex Hotel.
