Gotham artist Mel Dare is exhibiting 4 works called Constructing Memory at Peek-a-Boo Gallery from the 10th - 23rd October 2016.
For more than 16 years Dare has been interested in the mechanics of meaning. This body of work investigates how memory is constructed and how it relates to personal narrative.
Memories are mothers, lovers, bullies on a rampage. Protectors, seducers, tormentors. Drowning, smothering, saving us again and again. Images flash - pain, pleasure, ambivalence. Held in a present long since past, reminding.
