BeQuest ReVolution
Rikard Fåhraeus & Kate Koivisto Wheeler 16 December 2018 to 14 February 2019 Rikard Fåhraeus (Stockholm, Sweden) and Kate Koivisto Wheeler (Perth, Australia) met briefly at "Meetings" at Supermarket Art Fair 2014. They have since then stayed in touch via e-mail. Some months after the meeting they started sending each other leads, traces, hints and evidence that there is something to be found, each finding connected to the one before. In April 2018, a two-week focus on this process, BeQuest, was presented at Studio 44, Stockholm, in the Studio 44 group exhibition Bestruction (stage 2). In September 2018, another version of BeQuest was exhibited during Berlin Art Week 2018 at >top, Berlin, in Bestruction (stage 3), Fåhraeus and Koivisto Wheeler walking the streets of Berlin each day in their quest, which was presented on the gallery wall. They also produced a book, BeQuest, an artists’ edition of 8, from 26 days of their process in August, and included this in the exhibition at Berlin. Beginning with hammering a pin through two books featured in the Stockholm exhibition, "La Place de l’Étoile” by Patrick Modiano, and “Earthly Paradise” by Colette, the process for BeQuest ReVolution involved each sending an exhortation to the other, which led to an action, from which the next exhortation was found. Then came a process of developing artworks from reflections and interpretations of the results. Peek-a-Boo is Gotham's window-box gallery, viewable 24/7 from James Street Northbridge, directly opposite the Alex Hotel. |
